The nursery is the room people most often buy one size too small for. Here is the rule, and why it exists.
The size
120 × 180 cm gives a usable floor-play area; 155 × 230 cm if the room takes it.
Why that rule exists
Children spend their time on the floor, so the rug is furniture. Soft enough to sit on, dense enough to take the traffic, washable when the inevitable happens.
The thing to watch

Why washable matters here
